  • Same-Day Registration happens at a designated site in each town, usually not at your regular polling place. Poll workers can tell you where New Haven's site is. (Same-Day Registration)
What the law actually says

The National Voter Registration Act (52 U.S.C. §§ 20501–20511) sets rules for how registration lists are kept and when names may be removed. The Help America Vote Act requires a statewide voter list (§ 21083) and a provisional ballot for a voter in a federal election whose name is not on the list (§ 21082). The Civil Rights Act (§ 10101) bars rejecting a voter over an immaterial paperwork error.

Same-Day Registration in Connecticut

Connecticut lets eligible residents register and vote on Election Day at a designated Same-Day Registration site in each town, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. A person in line at the site by 8 p.m. may stay and register. Bring proof of identity and residency.
